Barcelona mixes old streets, beaches and bold architecture in one walkable-plus-metro city. Three days is enough for the essentials. This plan keeps each day in one area so you spend less time on transport.
Day 1 — Gothic Quarter, El Born and the waterfront
1. Start in the Gothic Quarter
Walk the narrow lanes and small squares around the cathedral in the morning, when it is quiet. Continue to El Born for lunch and independent shops.
See places in Barcelona →In the afternoon, head to Barceloneta and the seafront promenade. Finish with a sunset walk by the water and tapas for dinner.
Day 2 — Gaudí and the Eixample
The Sagrada Família is the city's most famous building, and tickets are usually sold for a time slot, so book ahead on the official site. Nearby, the Eixample district is known for its grid of streets and its modernist façades.
Add one more Gaudí site, such as Park Güell, if you have energy, and keep the evening free for the lively streets of Gràcia.
Day 3 — Montjuïc and the views
2. Montjuïc, the hill over the city
Take the cable car or walk up for views over the port and the city. The hill has museums, gardens and sports venues, so pick one or two rather than all of them.
