When winter sets in, southern Spain remains one of the easiest ways to find some light, with short flights from much of Europe. Here is a one-week itinerary for the Christmas holidays, with links to organise the road trip, plan each stop and watch flight prices.
Days 1 to 3 — Seville
1. Seville, the Andalusian capital
Orange trees in the streets, the lanes of Santa Cruz, the Alcázar and the cathedral. Book monument tickets online when you can: queues may be long in holiday periods.
See places in Seville →Days 4 and 5 — Granada
2. Granada and the Alhambra
The Alhambra limits visitors per time slot: book your tickets as early as possible on the official site. End the day at a viewpoint in the Albaicín district.
See places in Granada →Days 6 and 7 — Malaga and the coast
3. Malaga, between city and sea
A compact historic centre, museums, tapas and a seaside promenade. A good start or end point for the route, with a well-served airport.

The SPOTIQ road trip planner builds a route with stops spread over the number of days you choose, an estimated distance and a GPS to navigate. Distances are estimates: always check the route in your navigation app before you leave.
